One in four patients at a new private hospital in Marbella is a medical tourist

With its stylish, shiny design and maximising of light, it feels more like a hotel than a brand new hospital.

Hospital Ceram is very much a place for treatment and recovery with its range of doctors, including cardiologists, orthopedic surgeons and paediatricians.

Developed by international fertility expert Hugo Benito, his wife, Martha Rojas and their daughter Tatiana, it is all about patient comfort, well-being and the best private health care possible.

Based in a calm, rural location in the hills above Marbella, the hospital’s relaxing and homely surroundings help a quick recovery.

As home births are illegal in Spain, its state-of-the-art birthing facilities and an experienced maternity team trained in water and natural births, is a boon for expectant mothers, looking for alternatives. Patients include Spanish locals, resident expatriates and medical tourists.

Tatiana Benito says: “Everything is brand new, but the doctors have a wealth of experience behind them. We have had amazing reviews since we opened at the end of 2014.”

With 20 single rooms, each with their own stunning mountain views, and up to 80 doctors and many more staff on hand, the emphasis is on giving each patient as much time and care as they need.

Hospital Ceram says that 70 to 80% of its patients travel from outside Spain for care.
