Saudi to lift travel ban for April

Saudi Arabia is to lift its land, sea and air travel ban and begin reopening for tourism on March 31, 2021. Saudi citizens will be permitted to travel abroad once more, including for medical tourism to Dubai. Some Saudis may be less keen to visit traditional destinations for treatment, including the UK and USA.

Saudi Arabia is preparing for a quick rebound in tourism and hasn’t revised its visitor targets for 2021 despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Tourism is an important part of Saudi Arabia’s plans to diversify the oil-dependent economy. The government still plans to expand the sector to make up 10% of economic output by 2030.
