£12m injection for care data collection

The Department of Health (DH) has pledged to give local authorities £11.8m to help overhaul the way social care data is collected in England as part of a major plans to improve the way care and support is measured. The data will be collected by the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) and published annually. It is hoped the statistics will help to improve social care standards by looking at the results impact on service users, rather than counting activities and processes.
