Concern over detail surrounding £75,000 care fee cap

While the social care sector has welcomed the news that the government is to introduce a cap of £75,000 for care fees, many stakeholders have said that more detail is needed to ensure the cap will help people who might struggle to pay for care. The government has pledged to pay for care costs over £75,000 from 2017 and has set a new assets threshold of £123,000, meaning people no longer need to be down to their last £23,000 before they are eligible for help for astate support. It is claimed by the government that the measure will help around 100,000 people who would not receive support under the current system.
