Devon to close 20 homes in a move towards total private provision

Devon county council is to close 20 homes throughout the county within the next 18 months in a bid to help more elderly people in the area live independently at home or in supported living accommodation. Following a consultation on transferring to a commissioner-only role’, (CCMn March 2014), the council said it needs to rely on the private sector to provide more of the residential places it needs.
