Impact of profit cap could be limited

The Labour party’s plans to cap the profits private companies can make from NHS contracts worth in excess of £500,000 has received much attention, but in practice its impact could be limited. The policy is part of a package of measures outlined by Ed Miliband and shadow health secretary Andy Burnham in recent months as a double-lock’ to protect the NHS from fragmentation and excessive profiteering by private companies.
