Local authority initiatives – May 2012

Birmingham city council has approved plans to transform Bournville College into a £35m retirement village and dementia care facility following a meeting of city planners. The development comprises a 208 apartment village, a 60-bed care home and a 45-bed specialist dementia care facility when it opens in 2015, making it the fifth extra care development in the city.
