The Department of Health has issued guidance on the transfer of £1.1bn from the NHS to local authorities for social care in the financial year 2014/15. The funding comprises £900m to support adult social care which has a health benefit and £200m for preparing for the implementation of mandatory pooled budgets between local authorities and clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) under the Better Care Fund. Councils and CCGs must agree on how to use the money, the guidance states.
