NHS reports healthy financial surplus

The NHS continues to report a healthy aggregate surplus, with strategic health authorities (SHAs) and primary care trusts (PCTs) forecasting a combined surplus of £1,190 million (1.2% of total NHS revenue resources) at the end of the second quarter of 2011/12, compared to a £1,165 million surplus, forecast at quarter 1 (Q1). However there are a number of PCTs and trusts recording deficits.
