Recruitment firms face VAT issue

Specialist recruitment agencies for the healthcare sector are under threat from new employment models being used by some NHS trusts. This has led to the call for the Government to give clarity to the use of value added tax (VAT) schemes by the NHS, from recruitment industry representatives hitting out at NHS trusts using new VAT-free employment models to take on staff that they would have previously engaged as temporary workers on permanent contracts.
