Spire Liverpool adds 30% theatre capacity

Spire Hospital Liverpool has added a mobile operating theatre to its facilities to increase capacity by 30% and enable it to treat NHS patients in addition to its private customers. The mobile unit – a laminar flow operating theatre complete with anaesthetic room, recovery area, utility areas and a staff changing room – is connected to the main hospital via a link corridor and is providing additional capacity for patients, enabling the specialist teams and consultants to provide continued and convenient access to treatment including orthopaedics, ophthalmology, urology, gynaecology, ENT, and other general surgical procedures carried out at the hospital. The mobile theatre opened in early November 2011 and will be operational for 18 months.
