Warnings show CQC ‘doing it’s job’

The English Community Care Association (ECCA) said a rise in the number of warning notices issued by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) demonstrated it had started to do its job’. CQC’s annual report showed that 910 warning notices had been issued to UK care homes during 2012/13 – an increase of 43% on the previous year. Chief executive Professor Martin Green said: The vast majority of care services are providing high quality care for some of the most vulnerable citizens in our society and the fact that CQC warning notices have gone up by 43% is more of an indicator that finally the CQC has started to do its job after years of bureaucratic incompetence and poor quality inspections.’
