Belmont Healthcare has appointed Simon Porter as head of commercial as the residential care group continues to invest in growth and strengthen its offering.

Porter brings experience across the residential care sector, spanning a range of commercial leadership, business development and operational roles. He was previously head of business development at Optima Care and Kinly Care, commercial director at Runwood Homes and held regional director positions with Barchester Healthcare and Care UK.

He will work with Belmont’s leadership and operational teams to support growth across the group, focusing on occupancy development, commercial strategy, market positioning, and strengthening referral pathways. He will also support partnerships with commissioners, healthcare professionals and local communities.

The news follows Belmont’s announcement in September that it has expanded into a new region with the acquisition of six care homes in Lincolnshire from The Orders of St John Care Trust.

‘Simon’s appointment is another important step in our continued investment in sustainable growth. Our investment in people and services is always focused on strengthening our approach to person-centred care and supporting residents and their families at every stage of their care journey,’ said Adam Hutchison, founder and chief executive officer of Belmont Healthcare.

‘By working closely with our teams and local communities, Simon will support our homes in listening to residents, families, and communities and their needs. That understanding will continue to guide how we develop our services, including how we invest in technology that supports our teams in delivering exceptional care. We are delighted to have him on board as we continue to grow.’

Porter added: ‘I look forward to working alongside our care teams and getting to know the residents, families and local communities we serve. Listening to their experiences will be central to my role, helping us identify practical ways to develop services, support colleagues and make the care journey clearer and more reassuring for families.’
