Audley Group has been appointed by Galliard Homes and O’Shea Group to take over the sales and operational management of Shiplake Meadows retirement village in Oxfordshire.

Located in Lower Shiplake, the scheme is a £57m (GDV) integrated retirement village and will bring 65 units to market, comprising two- and three-bedroom cottages and apartments, including penthouses. Each property will have either a balcony, terrace, or private garden.

Facilities feature a bistro, bar, private dining room, gym and wellness suite, while wellbeing and care services will be provided by CQC-registered Audley Care. Phase one of the development is available.

‘The Shiplake Meadows site is beautiful and the demand in the local community is high for aspirational retirement living options with central facilities. Shiplake and the local area had long been on our list of potential sites for a village so we jumped at the chance to work with Galliard and O’Shea who really understand the importance of creating more specialist housing for older people,’ said Nick Sanderson, Audley Group chief executive.

Stephen Conway, executive chair and CEO at Galliard Homes, said: ‘Nick and his team bring with them decades of invaluable experience in crafting exceptional integrated retirement communities. We’re thrilled to collaborate with Audley, a recognised leader in the sector, as we embark on this journey together.’

Rory O’Connor, executive chair at O’Shea Group, added: ‘Audley brings a depth of experience in this sector which means both future owners and prospective owners will be in excellent hands. We look forward to working closely with the team to launch an exceptional and much needed retirement village.’

Shiplake Meadows aims to deliver a 60% cut in CO2 emissions and a 50% reduction in energy costs for homeowners compared to a standard gas-fired home. There will be 35 cycle bays and 86 car parking spaces that are enabled to have an EV charger installed for those with electric vehicles.

Galliard and O’Shea were advised by Knight Frank and Howard Kennedy LLP, while Gowling WLG was Audley’s legal advisor.
