Cornerstone Healthcare Group has opened specialist care home The Burren, which will support individuals with complex physical and neurological conditions.
The home in Bristol provides 80 en suite bedrooms across two storeys and is divided into five suites, each with 16 bedrooms plus its own lounge, dining room, assisted bathroom, alongside tea points and kitchenettes for family members and visitors.
Residents have access to outdoor spaces, including a rooftop terrace. The home, which has dementia-friendly acoustics, has been built to meet a BREEAM ‘excellent’ sustainability rating with low-carbon technologies, renewable energy and its own living wall on the outside of the building.
An opening ceremony was attended by Julie Allen, mother of The Burren’s first resident, alongside Lesley Sturgeon, the home’s general manager and Paul Hayes, chief executive of Cornerstone.
‘We are delighted to be opening The Burren care home. Every Cornerstone home we open allows us to support more people who deserve personalised, specialist care in a place they can call home,’ said Hayes.
The Burren joins established homes in Hampshire and Surrey within the Cornerstone group.
