Exemplar opens £4.9m care home for adults with complex needs

Exemplar Blackmoor

Provider of specialist nursing care for adults living with complex needs Exemplar Health Care has opened its fifth setting in the West Midlands.

Blackmoor, which cost £4.9m to develop, will support adults living with complex and high acuity needs, including brain and spinal injuries, neuro-disabilities, physical disability or mental health conditions. It has 30 bedrooms, each with an en-suite, across three units.

The home features communal dining and living spaces, as well as an activities hub, therapy kitchen, salon, multi-faith room and garden for residents and visitors. It is near Birmingham city centre and will generate more than 100 jobs.

‘We have designed and built Blackmoor to provide person-centered nursing care and rehabilitation that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills, and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible,’ said Kerry Hill, Blackmoor’s commissioning home director.

Exemplar Health Care operates over 30 homes across Yorkshire, the Midlands, North East and North West. It has started construction on Cheshire Springs, a 20-bed care home in Ellesmere Port that is due to open in spring next year.
