Riverstone opens development in Fulham

Riverstone Fulham

Riverstone has opened its latest development on the north bank of the River Thames, offering 161 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.

Riverstone Fulham, which is near Chelsea Harbour, will offer residents a swimming pool, gym, spa, library, cinema, club room, restaurant and a 24/7 concierge on site. It has partnered with The Good Care Group to provide support for residents if needed.

Riverstone is backed by Goldman Sachs Asset Management and specialises in providing homes in prime London locations for the over 65s. The latest opening follows the launch of Riverstone Kensington earlier in the summer. It also has a development in Hampstead.

‘We’re seeing a distinct shift in behaviour towards retirement from the baby boomer generation to that of their parents. This is a generation that invented the term “teenagers”, partied at school and university, and they handled their careers differently by moving jobs rather than having a job for life,’ said Martin Earp, Riverstone chief executive.

‘It’s clear that they will plan later living in a different way from their parents – and this is what we have seen in Australia, the US and Canada already where integrated retirement communities form a significant proportion of homes for over-65s.’

Based on the census figures, Knight Frank anticipates a 24% increase in the 65-plus population between 2021 and 2031, equating to an additional 2.5 million people. It expects the number of people aged 75-plus to grow by 11%.
