Fostering placement rise boosts Ideapark’s books

Ideapark Ltd, the holding company for the UK’s largest independent fostering agency Foster Care Associates (FCA), reported revenues of £165.7m for the year ended 31 December 2013, compared to £163m the previous year. Taking off cost of sales of £114.5m (2012: £111.3m) and administrative expenses of £46.2m (£44.9m), the company made an operating profit of £5.1m (2012: £6.7m). Following the deduction of interest charges of £1.7m (2012: £1.9m), Ideapark made a pre-tax profit of £3.1m (2012: £4.9m).

In its latest stock exchange update, Cambian Group reported that group turnover for the nine months to 30 September 2014 was 12% higher than in the same period on 2013, with revenue growth for the third quarter of 14%. The board added that net debt at 30 September 2014 was £137m, with significant headroom on our £200m bank facilities to enable further organic and acquisitive growth’.

Not-for-profit provider Anchor Trust experienced a small rise in turnover for the year ended 31 March 2014. At the year end, revenues stood at £265.8m compared to £264.8m the previous year. After operating costs of £247.5m were deducted (2013: £246.7m) Anchor recorded an operating surplus of £18.3m (2013: £18.1m). Due to a deficit of £1.6m on the disposal of housing properties, compared to a surplus of £8.2m the previous year, the operator’s surplus dropped from £21.8m in 2013 to £12.1m at the end of the report period.
