McCarthy & Stone boosted by demand
Retirement housing provider McCarthy & Stone reported a 25% rise in revenues for the year ended 31 August 2014 from a restated 2013 figure of £310.8m to £387.8m. After cost of sales of £283.8m (2013: £244.2m) and administrative expenses of £40.4m (2013: £40.3m including PIK notes of £17.2m) were deducted, the business made an operating profit of £68.1m (2013: £29.5m).
Speculation intensifies over Bupa Care Homes sale
While saying it is committed to the UK aged care sector Bupa has refused to scotch growing market speculation that it has put 200 of its estate of 286 care homes up for sale.

A good year for Somerset Care
High occupancy rates led to increases in revenues and profits for major operator Somerset Care Limited its result for the year ended 31 March 2011 show. Turnover for the report period increased by 5.6% to £75.1m from £71.1m in 2010. Overall, operating profit stood at £4.9m (2010: £3.2m) and the care home and domiciliary care provider reported a bottom line figure of £2.4m.
City and County get Help at Home
City & County Health Group, owned by private equity firm Sovereign Capital, acquired Help at Home Ltd last month for an undisclosed sum. This represents the groups ninth bolt-on since it was bought by the venture capital firm in September 2009.
