Circle Holdings plc announced last month that Odey European Inc has exercised its right to appoint a director to the board. Anthony Bromovsky has consequently been appointed as a non-executive director, effective immediately.

The NHS Confederation has appointed Michael O'Higgins to the role of chair. Mr O'Higgins brings a significant amount of public sector and commercial experience to the NHS Confederation. He is the current chair of The Pensions Regulator and is the former chair of the Audit Commission, a position he held for six years before stepping down in September this year. He is also a non-executive director of National Rail and HM Treasury and chair of the Treasury Group Audit Committee. His non-executive experience follows a successful business career.

Peter O’Donnell, senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) of Unum UK, has been named to replace Jack McGarry as president and CEO. Mr McGarry is to return to the US to manage the company’s closed block of business.

The London Orthopaedic Clinic has welcomed Dr Deane Halfpenny to itsWimpole Street premises. Dr Halfpenny is a consultant in musculoskeletal pain medicine with experience and specialist knowledge in particular areas of expertise including spinal pain and injury, acute back, neck and shoulder pain, myofascial pain syndromes and neuropathic pain.

Bupa has announced a management restructure. Richard Bowden, Bupa’s Australia managing director is to head up the UK.
