HCA launches new self pay website

HCA International predicts there will be a 20% increase in self pay patients over the next few years. To this end it has launched a new website - www, hcahospitals.co.uk - providing existing self pay patients and potential self pay patients access to its services and self pay packages.

Continuing growth for Marie Stopes

Marie Stopes International (MSI), the charity that delivers sexual and reproductive health services through family planning centres and outreach teams internationally reported further increases in total incoming resources and net income for the year ending 31 December 2011. Total incoming resources hit £145.2m (2010: £129.9m) and the charity spent £139.9m (2010: £125.9m). This left it with a net income of £5.3m an increase on 2010’s £3.9m. MSI also owns two investments – its managed investment fund was valued at £5.7m for 2011 (2010: £5m) however, its Dublin property investment decreased in netbook value from £274,000 in 2010 to £268,000.

Dr MacDonald set to leave insurer Bupa

Managing director for health and wellbeing, Natalie-Jane MacDonald, is set to leave Bupa to pursue other opportunities after 17 years with the insurer. Bupa denied industry rumours that she had suddenly left’ the company and advised that Dr MacDonald will remain with Bupa for the foreseeable future as no leaving date has been set and no replacement has been announced.

Hampshire pledges £45m to extra care

Hampshire county council has said it will invest £45m in extra care development over the next eight years. As part of the council’s long term investment in extra care, four new developments have already opened in Andover, Basingstoke, Fleet and Gosport. Collectively, they provide 240 one and two-bed homes, with flexible 24 hour care.
