AI specialist joins advisory board at Check4Cancer

Dr Haider Raza has joined the clinical advisory board at Check4Cancer to support further development its AI model for skin cancer detection.

Raza was a leading member of the Innovate UK-funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) team that developed the skin cancer AI model and will help support its deployment in the UK and globally. He will work closely with the expanding data science team and advise the board on all matters related to the adoption of new technologies including AI.

A senior lecturer in the School of Computer Science & Electronic Engineering at the University of Essex, his research interests include using data-driven approaches to clinical and public health problems with techniques such as machine learning, computational intelligence and predictive analytics. He is also involved in developing an AI-assisted decision-making system for NHS cancer pathways in Essex.

Check4Cancer chief medical officer and CEO Professor Gordon Wishart said: ‘We are delighted that Dr Raza has agreed to join the Check4Cancer team as an AI advisor. He was instrumental in developing our skin cancer AI model and he will now help us deliver improved patient care by ensuring that our AI model is safe, reliable and explainable.’
