Clive Kay joins Browne Jacobson as strategic adviser

Law firm Browne Jacobson has appointed former King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust chief executive Professor Clive Kay as a strategic adviser to its health and life sciences team.

Kay brings almost 40 years’ experience in the NHS, including 17 years as a consultant radiologist and more than a decade in executive leadership roles. At Browne Jacobson, he will advise the firm’s health and life sciences practice, working with partner and head of health and life sciences Gerard Hanratty and the wider team across its public sector, independent healthcare, international, life sciences and medical malpractice work.

During his time at King’s, Kay oversaw the development of the trust’s five-year BOLD corporate strategy and, in 2023, jointly led the implementation of the Epic electronic patient record system with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Before joining King’s, Kay served as chief executive of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he previously held the roles of clinical director of radiology and medical director.

Earlier in his career, he was a visiting associate professor of radiology at the Medical University of South Carolina. He has also served on the Council of the Royal College of Radiologists and chaired both the Royal College of Radiologists’ Scientific Programme Committee and the British Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology.

Kay is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
