Create Fertility founder steps down after 25 years

Professor Geeta Nargund, founder and medical director of Create Fertility and ABC IVF, has announced her departure from the business after 25 years.

Nargund (pictured) launched Create Fertility as the first global chain of natural and mild IVF clinics, aimed at reducing the physical burden on women during treatment. In 2017, she also founded ABC IVF to provide lower-cost fertility treatments.

The two businesses were acquired by IVIRMA Global in 2021. Create Fertility now carries out more than 4,000 treatments annually across its network and is one of the UK’s largest fertility providers.

A specialist in natural and mild IVF, Nargund has published more than 100 scientific papers and pioneered one-stop fertility diagnosis using advanced ultrasound in NHS hospitals. She is president of the International Society for Mild Approaches in Assisted Reproduction (ISMAAR) and a director of the Walking Egg Foundation, an international charity focused on making IVF accessible worldwide.

She will continue as a senior NHS consultant in reproductive medicine and as a board member of the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority. She also plans to devote more time to her charitable positions, including the Create Health Foundation – a charity she founded to help address the gender health gap and improve women’s healthcare in the UK.

In a statement, Nargund said: ‘I am proud of all that Create Fertility has achieved for a generation of women in reducing the burden and side effects of fertility treatment, focusing on “quality” and not “quantity”, and through ABC IVF we have been able to provide affordable care across our country.

‘Our pioneering work has helped thousands of women and couples to create families. I’m delighted that we have also been able to serve NHS patients across England. I want to thank our fantastic team for all their support and wish the company continued future success.
