Medica Group appoints new clinical director

Teleradiology services provider Medica Group has appointed Dr Robert Lavis to the newly created role of clinical director starting 1 June.

Lavis will report to the company’s medical director, Dr Stephen Davies.

Lavis has extensive experience of clinical practice, having began his career as a surgeon before entering radiology with a specialist focus on oncology.

Lavis joins Medica from Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where he is currently a consultant radiologist and former clinical director.

‘Robert has had a longstanding relationship with Medica both as a customer and as a contracted reporter,’ said Dr. Stuart Quin, chief executive officer of Medica. ‘His insight and expertise will help us to continue to enhance the service we offer.’

‘I particularly look forward to working with Robert to drive strategic projects within the company, such as the deployment of artificial intelligence and continual improvements in our quality management systems,’ Quin added.

Commenting on his appointment, Lavis said: ‘I am excited to be joining Medica as clinical director.

‘The creation of this new role underlines Medica’s commitment to continually invest in quality, innovation and service development.

‘I know Medica and teleradiology well from my time within the NHS and as a contracted reporter for many years. I look forward to applying my experience as part of the management team to drive future growth and quality improvements.’

This new appointment follows last week’s news that Medica’s finance director Tony Lee had left the company.

Medica said Lee was leaving to pursue other business opportunities and was working with the board to search for his successor.
