Aviva launches new private medical insurance service

Aviva has launched a new premium private medical insurance service designed to help its corporate clients better control their costs.

The insurer said its new Optimum Referral service, which is offered as part of its Optimum produce for companies with 250 or more employees, would also help employees make informed choices about their treatment.

The new option enables Aviva to match the choice of provider to a customer’s needs in a move, which the insurer says is designed to deliver a high standard of medical care for on an open referral basis.

It bases its facility choices by industry quality standards with the majority of hospitals having been selected based on Care Quality Commission and Health Improvement Scotland ratings. In addition, it recommends specialists who meet the professional standards of the relevant governing bodies.

Doug Wright, medical director at Aviva, said: ‘Optimum Referral draws upon our breadth of clinical and customer service experience to deliver quality, sustainable healthcare to our corporate customers.

‘Its open referral approach enables us to use our clinical knowledge and independent quality data to signpost members to an appropriate treatment provider. We’ve made sure it’s easy for members to access the treatments they need as well as providing full support to them every step of the way through their treatment journey.

‘We believe Optimum Referral offers all this whilst driving tangible value from a business’s healthcare spend.’
