PPG opens MRI suite at Birmingham hospital

Practice Plus Group (PPG) has opened a new MRI suite at its Birmingham hospital as part of an investment to expand diagnostic capacity and improve access to imaging services.

The 105m² suite includes a Siemens Magnetom Altea MRI scanner with AI-enabled imaging technology. PPG said the system is designed to improve image clarity and support more efficient scanning, while features including a wider bore design, ambient lighting and adapted décor aim to improve patient experience.

The development was delivered in partnership with Imaging Matters and Assura.

PPG Hospitals CEO Ross Dowsett said: ‘Our new MRI suite in Birmingham reflects our commitment to improving access to high-quality diagnostic services for our patients. Timely, accurate diagnostics are a vital first step in a patient’s journey. The quicker we can assess patients, the sooner they can access the treatment they need.’

Samantha Doubleday, hospital director at PPG Birmingham, added: ‘Birmingham is a vibrant, growing city, and we are proud to offer a new MRI facility that benefits both private patients and our NHS partners. Whether individuals choose to self fund, use private medical insurance or come to us through NHS referral routes, our aim is to provide a smooth, efficient and reassuring diagnostic experience.’
