Bridges Fund Management-backed Renaiss Health has secured planning approval for a second physical rehabilitation centre in Tunbridge Wells, as it continues to expand its footprint in post-acute care.
The development will involve the demolition of existing buildings on the site and the construction of a purpose-built facility, including a physiotherapy suite, hydrotherapy pool and 55 ensuite bedrooms. The centre will also incorporate hospitality spaces such as a restaurant and lounge.
The facility is intended to support patients recovering from orthopaedic surgery or trauma, with tailored rehabilitation programmes focused on improving mobility and independence.
Renaiss Health CEO Jennifer Martin said: ‘We are delighted to receive planning approval for our new Tunbridge Wells centre. This facility is an important milestone in our mission to deliver high-quality, specialist rehabilitation services tailored to support client recovery, wellbeing, and independent living. We look forward to working with the community as we move into the next phase of development and onwards into operations.’
Celia Harrison, investment director at Bridges, said demand for rehabilitation services is expected to increase as the UK population ages.
‘Renaiss Tunbridge Wells will help to address this unmet need in Kent and further afield. It’s a great example of Bridges’ commitment to investing in real estate operating businesses that can help to tackle some of society’s biggest challenges,’ she added.
The scheme has been designed by PRP and is targeting BREEAM Excellent, WELL Gold and EPC A ratings, with at least 90% of demolished materials expected to be recycled.
The site is expected to open in late 2028.
