Participate in IMJT’s price transparency survey

As the medical tourism market develops, there’s an increasing need to provide reliable, well-researched data on aspects of the international patient market.

Price plays an important factor in patient choice in medical travel. In recent years, Intuition has researched and published Treatment Abroad PriceWatch, the first comprehensive report on prices for surgery, cosmetic surgery, dentistry and infertility treatment abroad.

In 2013, we are extending our analysis of pricing levels for international patients and will be publishing the report through International Medical Travel JournalTM. The new report, called IMTJ Medical Tourism PriceWatch 2013, will aim to compile pricing information on over 100 treatments and procedures, in more than 80 medical travel destinations. It will also gather information on the expected hospital stay and on pre- and post-treatment stay for international patients.

IMTJ Medical Tourism PriceWatch 2013 will provide a reference point for the industry, and for the press and media who wish to obtain meaningful information on prices for the medical traveller.

The approach to data collection

We are gathering pricing information from clinics and hospitals in over 80 destinations. This information will be gathered in two ways:

  • Submission of prices by healthcare providers for inclusion in the review.
  • Harvesting of prices published on medical tourism, hospital and clinic web sites.

An external market research company will then compile an analysis of prices currently being charged for the treatment of medical tourists. The compiled report will not identify specific providers, but will provide information on average prices and the range of prices available in each country.

Why should a hospital or clinic participate?

In return for participation, each hospital or clinic will obtain a free copy of the report IMTJ Medical Tourism PriceWatch 2013 – An analysis of pricing levels in the international patient market. Non-participants who are clients of Intuition Communication will be able to order a copy of the report at the discounted price of £400 (plus VAT); the report will be available to other companies for £550 (plus VAT).

The report will enable hospitals and clinics to assess their current pricing levels against both domestic and international competitors.

The report will also generate media coverage which we hope will draw attention to the developing medical tourism market. This is good news for all providers of medical tourism services.
