Costa Rica has removed the PCR Covid-19 test requirement for all incoming tourists.

Most medical, dental and general tourists are from the USA and Canada. Many Americans and Canadians found it difficult to fulfil the testing requirements, so looked to countries with no test requirements such as Mexico or the Dominican Republic.

The US government dropped their travel advisory for Costa Rica , so from 1 November the country is welcoming Americans from all states.

With restrictions loosening, airlines are expanding their flight routes into Costa Rica.

Costa Rica clamped down early and has been seen to have done well for the most part managing the crisis while enabling responsible tourism. With 220,000 US deaths and US numbers of new cases at 60,000 a day, the country is taking a significant risk to get short-term tourists.
