Canada extends travel restrictions into 2021

Canadian travel restrictions will continue until January 21 2021. Its border will continue to be closed to foreign nationals who are coming for a non-optional, non-discretionary reason. Border officials will turn away any traveller coming for reasons such as recreation, tourism, or entertainment.

With a massive pandemic problem in the neighbouring USA, the likelihood is that the travel ban will extend for many months into 2021.

There are some exceptions, but the Federal rules do not include medical tourism or health tourism, and all those entering Canada must quarantine for 14 days. Some states such as Alberta do allow urgent medical treatment that must be undertaken within 36 hours of entering Canada, and quarantine is not required for this.
