Cheap transplants for Pakistanis in Turkey

Medical tourism will be promoted between Turkey and Pakistan and Turkish hospitals will provide cheap liver transplants to Pakistani patients.

The Turkish Health Ministry and the Punjab state government in Pakistan will collaborate in organ transplantation, especially liver transplantation, training and capacity building of doctors, nurses in this field as well as the transfer of technology.

Medical tourism will be promoted between Turkey and Pakistan and Turkish hospitals will provide liver transplants to Pakistani patients at subsidised prices.

Turkish hospitals are successfully carrying out transplant operations of liver, lungs, intestine, kidney and heart. 38 transplantation centres provide 12,000 transplants a year in Turkey. The Turkish Ministry of Health will provide liver transplantation services to the patients of Pakistan at subsidised rates.

A state-of-the-art mega project for liver and kidney transplantation at the Pakistan Kidney, Liver Transplantation and Research Institute is being established in Lahore and the first phase of the project will be completed by December 2017,with plans to offer the first local liver and kidney transplants in January 2018.
