Cleveland partners with UK private hospitals

The Cleveland Clinic London will open its first outpatient clinic at 24 Portland Place in September, in advance of the new London hospital opening in early 2022. Services offered at its Outpatient Centre will include in-house GPs, bespoke health assessments and specialist consultations.

Cleveland Clinic believes that strengthening its presence in London will benefit existing patients in the UK and Europe, providing access to specialist care without the need to travel overseas. New technologies, such as virtual health and remote monitoring, alongside a physical hospital location in London, will allow it to spread clinical best practice across borders.

The Clinic has partnered with King Edward VII’s Hospital to provide advanced breast care services at King Edward VII’s facilities in Central London. The collaboration means that women having consultations at Cleveland Clinic London will have access to King Edward VII’s state-of the-art-facilities for diagnostics, screening and treatment. Medical records will be shared electronically.

The University College London Queen Square Institute of Neurology (IoN) has announced a unique fellowship programme with Cleveland Clinic, to develop the next generation of neurologists and neurosurgeons. Fellows will be employed by the clinic and will register part-time at UCL on a three-to-four year programme. Cleveland Clinic London hospital is planning to offer a neuroscience service, including a dedicated neurosurgical theatre and a 42-bed neuro-rehabilitation ward – one of the biggest in UK private healthcare. The neuro-rehab ward will offer consultant-led rehabilitation for patients with complex needs and a wide range of neurological disorders including stroke, traumatic brain injury and spinal injury. There will be dedicated video telemetry beds for sleep and complex epilepsy.

Renal Services (UK) Limited, the second largest independent provider of dialysis in the UK, has also said will be delivering dialysis services at the new Cleveland Clinic London hospital.

In recent months, the Clinic has also announced a new clinical partnership with The London Clinic, to provide oncology services to patients at their respective facilities in central London. Surgical oncology will be a core service offered by Cleveland Clinic London. The London Clinic has a pioneering cancer treatment centre.

Cleveland Clinic London will be an important addition to the medical provision in the Harley Street Medical Area (HSMA). HSMA encompasses a wide range of hospitals, clinics and specialists around Harley Street in central London with 5,000 medical specialists working in 250 clinics. It attracts more than one million patient visitors each year.

Cleveland Clinic London will have 184 inpatient beds; eight operating rooms; a full imaging suite; endoscopy and catheterisation labs; day case rooms for surgery; and a full neurological suite with rehabilitation. The facility will offer specialty services focusing on general surgery, cardiology, orthopaedics and neurology.
