Egypt aims to grow inbound international patients

Shady Ali Hussein of the Reversing Medical Tourism Flow Organisation has stated he wants to turn Egypt from a source of medical tourists to a medical travel destination. He particularly sees opportunities for inbound dental tourism.

In a video put together by the Oxford Business Group, Shady Ali Hussein says there is a growing awareness among medical tourists of the advantages of Egypt. Attractions include lower medical fees and on-par standards of treatment for cosmetic surgery and dental care, delivered by skilled professionals using the latest technology.

Shady Ali Hussein expects more medical tourists to arrive from Western countries as awareness about the treatments and services Egypt offers increases. His aim is to reverse a decade-long trend of young people travelling abroad to study and practise medicine, with rising numbers choosing instead to remain in Egypt.

He also admits that Egypt is way behind competitors on how it promotes medical tourism but sees potential in dental tourism, particularly for dental implants.
