GNP Hospital achieves Temos Covid-19 Safe certification

Ghassan Najib Pharaon Hospital (GNP Hospital), a tertiary care hospital in Jedda, Saudi Arabia is the first hospital worldwide to successfully complete the Temos certification process for the Certificate of Compliance: COVID-19 Safe.

In achieving the Certificate of Compliance, GNP Hospital is demonstrating its commitment to assure a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors and to minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19.

Temos has said that 15 organisations worldwide have also applied for this certification programme and are currently preparing the self-assessment and respective evidence.

For GNP Hospital, the assessment was conducted as a “desktop” survey. A self-assessment had to be completed and submitted together with written evidence, photographs, videos and other supporting material to enable the two assessors from Greece and Germany to evaluate and assess the compliance with each of the 60 standards. Response to questions and support during the preparation was via phone, email and virtual meetings.

GNP Hospital’s CEO, Dr. Faisal Al Battah, says “We researched many sources to find the needed information to guide us to maximise safety for our patients and staff during this COVID-19 pandemic. The Temos programme gave us clear and up-to-date standards with helpful guidance as well as continuous support throughout the certification journey. Now the standards are integrated into our daily practice”.

Temos claims it is the first accreditation organisation to develop and implement a “Certificate of Compliance” programme in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is designed to provide guidance to hospitals and clinics to reduce the risk of transmission while increasing patient and staff safety. The programme’s standards are based on up to date best international clinical practices as well as scientific studies and guidelines published by WHO, CDC, ISQua and other reputable sources to address the specific exposure risks, sources of exposure, routes for transmission, and other unique characteristics of SARS-CoV-2.
