In-MedTouR (Innovative Medical Tourism Strategy) is a new project which aims to create a cluster of cooperation between Greece and Italy’s businesses engaged in medical tourism.

In-MedTouR is a project that will be implemented within the framework of the Interreg Greece-Italy V/A 2014-2020 programme.

The countries have recognised that, in the cross-border area, there is a lack of cooperation between businesses and research/educational institutions, and a low involvement of businesses in research and development.

The project aims to encourage cooperation between private or public hospitals, doctors, SPA, and wellness centres, as well as research and development entities (universities, technological institutes etc.), so that know-how and innovations can be exchanged between the two countries. It is hoped that the network of cooperation will continue after the completion of the project.

The project’s partners have agreed common actions and partnerships between Greek and Italian organisations active in medical tourism.

An e-Tour Facilitator has also been developed, offering an online platform with information about providers of medical and tourism services in Greece and Italy. Based on AI technology, the platform also provides integrated packages of medical tourism services based on the user’s profile.

The project’s partners include the Greek Tourism Ministry, Patra University and Greece’s National Organization for the Provision of Health Services (EOPPY), as well as the Municipality of Santa Cesarea Terme in Italy and the Brindisi Chamber of Commerce.
