Iran: cosmetic surgery death

A UK citizen who went to Iran for low cost weight-loss cosmetic surgery has died in the country from complications.

UK citizen Louise Smith died after undergoing cut-price cosmetic surgery in Iran. She had travelled to Iran for the operation while living in Dubai.

The legal system in Iran means that there is no possibility of relatives claiming for any medical negligence.

Iran is a major centre for cosmetic surgery for locals and medical tourists from many countries, with local estimates of millions of surgeries each year.

Travel agents in Iran offer packages for cosmetic surgery. Iranian specialists offer rhinoplasty, cosmetic eyelid surgery, cheek implants, chin implant, Botox injections, breast augmentation, liposuction, aesthetic surgery, and full facelifts,  all at low prices. Procedures have a high success rate.
