Plans for Eco-Medical Village in Ghana

The new hospital aims become the largest private hospital in West Africa. The proposed 1100 bed medical facility is the result of a $300 million financial agreement between Ghanaian investment firm Eco Medical Village Limited, and New York-based private equity firm Milost Global. The hospital is expected to serve the medical tourism needs of middle and upper class citizens of West Africa. Apart from the major facility in Accra, the hospital plans satellite units in Nigeria and other countries within in the sub-region.

Eventually the up-market medical village plans to include a hospital for women and children, a medical mall, hotels, housing and apartment complexes, an elderly care home, and paramedic services.

The plan is to sell Eco-Med Insurance, so customer can afford treatment. The Eco-Med Card will be sold in banks in West Africa.

Whether this very ambitious scheme ever gets built is a moot point as so far it has not raised all the funding, done nothing on site, and not signed up all the contractors and sub-contractors.
