Quezon City: health and wellness tourism capital

Medical and tourism stakeholders have added more detail to their plan to promote Quezon City as the medical tourism destination in the Philippines.

Quezon City seeks to become a leading global medical tourism destination by 2020. A local government unit aims to promote medical and wellness tourism to local healthcare partners including St. Luke’s Medical Centre, Capitol Medical Centre, UERM (University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Centre), and specialist heart, liver and lung units.

Quezon City has been hailed as the new health and wellness tourism capital of the Philippines, based on an ordinance signed by Mayor Herbert Bautista.

The city’s medical and tourism stakeholders developing a plan that will highlight Quezon City as the medical tourism destination through programmes and policies that are consistent with the City Tourism Development Plan.

The city government is mandated to promote medical hospital facilities offering high quality medical services with a hospitable workforce and up-to-date facilities at a reasonable cost.

Plan details include to:

  • Create a one-stop directory of hospitals, clinics, medical spas, fitness, and therapy centres
  • Produce medical tour packages to be offered by travel agents
  • Set up a hotline for local and foreign clients
  • Introduce incentives for medical tourism stakeholders
