South Africa is open to all medical tourists without quarantine

South Africa initially opened for medical tourism from some countries only, but from November 12 it opened to all. This includes people from the USA, UK, and France, who were previously prohibited from visiting the country.

Arrivals to South Africa need to present proof of a negative COVID-19 test, taken no longer than 72 hours prior to departure. All must download the government’s contact tracing alert app for the duration of their stay and all passengers, regardless if they brought their negative PCR test, still undergo a health screening, which includes symptom checks and temperature screenings. Any symptomatic passenger will be subject to additional testing and/or quarantine.

South Africa is an economy struggling to make ends meet without the millions of tourists.

Hotels, restaurants, and other tourism-based businesses are open, with capacity limits and restricted hours.
