US$2bn spent on treatment abroad

According to Punch, the Minister of State for Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, has said that Nigerians spend about US$2bn annually to seek medical care abroad.

Ehanire, while delivering a keynote address during the opening ceremony of the 41st Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Orthopaedic Association, said that many Nigerians were driven to seek treatment abroad due to lack of trust for hospitals and medical personnel in the country.
