Can council funds still be a factor?

Local authorities are waiting with baited breath for a Supreme Court decision over whether councils can take into account their finances when carrying out social care assessments. If the action against Cambridgeshire county council is successful, it could overturn a 1997 House of Lords ruling which concluded that the resources of a local authority may be taken into account when determining the care needs of the individual.
