CQC comes under fire

Days after social care regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC) published its New Start consultation, the inspectorate’s past came back to haunt it, calling into question the future of the organisation. The allegations that senior board members, including former chief executive Cynthia Bower, deleted a report critical of the way the inspectorate handled an investigation into deaths at University Hospitals Morcambe Bay led to current chair David Prior to declare at the time that the CQC was not fit for purpose’.
