CQC head Dame Jo resigns

Chair of the Care Quality Commission, Dame Jo Williams, announced her resignation last month following years of the organisation being dogged by criticism. Dame Jo said she was proud of the progress the CQC had made since it was set up in 2008 despite criticism being regularly levelled at the regulator. Most recently it was criticised by the Public Accounts Committee for failing to perform effectively (CCMn April 2012).
