Law Commission publishes vision of unified social care statute

Eligibility for social care entitlement could be set nationally, the use of personal budgets could be extended to cover residential care bills and local authorities would be urged to co-operate when a care client moves across borders. As CCMN went to press the Law Commission marked the conclusion of its two year long project to end the current incoherent patchwork of legislation by publishing a wide-ranging report making 76 high level recommendations to the government regarding the reform of social care law.
