Mental health patients use NHS more

Mental health service users have double the rate of hospital attendances compared to the general population – across A&E, inpatients and outpatient services, according to Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) data. Four in 10 service users visited A&E at least once in 2011/12 compared to two in 10 of the general population.
