Hospital providers are reporting double-digit growth in self pay activity as more patients opt for pay-as-you-go treatment over private medical insurance, according to new report Intuition Communication. Based on an online survey and one-to-one interviews with providers, The Private Healthcare UK Self Pay Market Study 2015 found that rapid growth in self-pay was taking place at the expense of personal and corporate private medical insurance policies. It said that older people in particular were abandoning their PMI in favour of self-pay.
