UKSH releases results

Independent sector treatment centre (ISTC) provider UK Specialist Hospitals (UKSH) posted a large increase in turnover to £32.9m (2009: £23.9m) but also recorded a pre-tax loss of £1.2m for the year ended 31 March 2010. The firm said that the loss reflected primarily non recurring preopening expenditure incurred mobilising three new treatment centres’. Last year, UKSH opened three new treatment centres in Bristol, Devizes and Cirencester. Cost of sales rose sharply from £17.7m to £26.5m and gross profit remained static at around £6m. Debt due within one year stood at £14.1m (2009: £8.9m) and long term debt stood at £18.8m (2009: £12.9m). Net liabilities at year end were £5.4m (2009: £4.2m) and the group had £12.6m cash in hand.
