Shaw healthcare, the health and social care provider has appointed a new deputy director of care and quality. Alain Sockalingum was previously manager of a secure hospital in England that specialises in the assessment and treatment of adult mental health and learning disability patients. Mr Sockalingum trained as a learning disability and general nurse before moving into healthcare management. He has over 30 years’ experience in the healthcare sector and holds an MSC in Forensic Mental Health & Learning Disabilities from the University of Birmingham. August appointments

Dr Peter Heath, former president of the British Society for Clinical Neurophysiology (BSCN) has joined Bespoke Healthcare, provider of neurophysiology, nerve conduction, intraoperative monitoring studies for public and private hospitals, as quality assurance lead.

Mike Parsons, founder and chief executive of Barchester Healthcare is retiring. Mr Parsons who has been with the company for over 20 years will remain in his post for the next few months and will work with the Board on identifying a successor and put in place plans for a handover.
