Mike Farrar leaves NHS Confederation

Mike Farrar is to stand down as chief executive of the NHS Confederation as his two-and-a-half-year secondment to the organisation from the NHS has come to an end. After 30 years' service, Mr Farrar has decided to move on from the NHS and launch a new career in healthcare consultancy. He will however continue to work in the coming months on a number of major projects for the NHS Confederation, to ensure that initiatives like the Bureaucracy Review and the Accelerator Fund come to fruition.

MAHSC appoints new COO

Manchester Academic Health Science Centre has appointed Peter Noble as chief operating officer for the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC), starting on October 1 2013. Mr Noble is currently the director of operations for the Medical Research Council (MRC) in The Gambia, which manages the largest concentration of UK medical research in a developing country. Mr Noble trained as a diagnostic radiographer working in the North of England and subsequently moved to NHS managerial roles in Leeds, Bradford, Liverpool, Harrogate and London.
